This position is for one academic year (171 days), limited - part time (0.75FTE), assignment.
Job Description
Provide Instruction: A core faculty will instruct students and have requirements that includes but is not limited to:
assist in developing program curriculum, curricular threads, and course content using instructional and curriculum design methods;
maintaining up-to-date course content;
assist with annual program assessment and comprehensive program reviews;
participate in the analysis of data including student outcome, enrollment, retention, and completion data to support continuous improvement;
developing lesson plans;
organizing and managing instructional activities;
using appropriate learner-centered instructional methods;
evaluation of student learning and providing evaluation methods appropriate to outcomes;
maintaining accurate records of evaluation and course work, including attendance; submitting grades; seeking feedback on course delivery and student learning; ordering textbooks; maintaining lab and equipment.
ensure documentation of the evaluation and progression of lab performance leading to clinical competence;
Engage in advising and student support: A core faculty will be an active participant in student advising and support with responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
engage students in the advising process;
use institutional tools to create student plans and maintain documentation for each advisee;
maintain required office hours compatible with student schedules;
direct students to appropriate college resources;
Participate in institutional engagement & advancement: A core faculty will work to advance the College’s mission and vision by being responsible for the following:
abide by the College’s values, following policies and procedures;
promote a positive working relationship across divisions;
participate in committees and institutional activities;
support workforce development;
perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Demonstrate professional and quality customer service: A core faculty will demonstrate professionalism and provide quality customer service in accordance with the College’s values by doing the following:
maintain positive working relationships, and make decisions and solve problems;
maintain confidentiality, positive communication, accurate records, and an organized, safe working environment;

Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement
- Bachelor degree and graduate of an accredited dental assisting program.
Occupational Experience Requirement
- Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a dental assistant.
Recency Requirement
- One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
- Dental Assistant certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Current Dental Assistant License from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.
Preferred Qualification
Post-secondary teaching experience
Experience serving diverse and underserved populations
An understanding of the community college mission and it's unique population
Experience in online learning and/or course delivery using web-based course management systems such as D2L
Experience in using innovative teaching and learning approaches
Experience teaching courses with innovative teaching practices to support the success and retention of underrepresented students, including students of color, first-generation students and Pell eligible students
