Job Description:
The Patient Care Tech functions as a clinical support partner to assist the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional.
Acute Cardiovascular Unit - Level 3
We are a specialized Cardiovascular Telemetry department that cares for a variety of cardiothoracic patients including post open heart surgeries, heart transplants, heart failure, CABG, valve replacement, lung surgeries, esophageal surgeries, vascular surgeries, myocardial infarction, post cardiac catheterization patients, mechanical circulatory heart patients and a wide range of cardiac IV medications. We develop skills involving chest tubes, epidurals, temporary pacemakers, measuring central venous pressures, IV insertion, EKG interpretation, and mechanical circulatory heart devices. PCTs are cross trained as Telemetry Monitoring Technicians and Health Unit Coordinators.

Posting Specifics :
Benefits Eligible: Yes; Medical, Dental, Vision, Education Assistance, etc.
Shift Details: Full-time variable shift needed; some weekend and holiday requirements.
Caregiver to Patient Ratios: Our PCT ratios are 1:9-10 on days and 1:14 on nights.
Unit: Cardiovascular Level 3
Additional Details: Shift differentials are given for evenings, nights, and weekends
Minimum Qualifications:
Current CNA Certification.

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
If working in Utah

Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS
-OR-
Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required to verify completion of class and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS
For those hired into a skilled nursing facility or long-term care center, obtaining a C.N.A. certification within 120 days is allowed only if the new hire has never been a C.N.A. in Utah. If previously certified, must have a current and valid C.N.A. before start date
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.

Current enrollment in nursing school.

Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- and -
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- and -
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- and -
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
