Murray State University Senior Financial Aid Counselor in Murray, Kentucky
Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Financial Aid-Operations, counsel students and parents on all aspects of financial aid. Determine eligibility and award financial aid in accordance with Federal, State, and Institutional guidelines. Serve as subject matter expert of one or more critical processes ( SAP , PJs, Verification, R2T4, Dependency Overrides, etc.).
Coordinate and administer all facets of one or more aid programs and major office operations.
Determine award eligibility and adjust financial aid awards in accordance with Federal, State, and Institutional guidelines.
Maintain current knowledge of Federal, State, and Institutional guidelines and procedures, including Title IV verification, R2T4, and other areas as assigned.
Conduct workshops and give presentations to students, parents, and high school administrators
Maintain knowledge of Federal, State, Institutional, and third-party websites and software systems
Process concurrent enrollment, Study Abroad, and resolve MRR and Pell overpayment issues with students receiving aid at multiple schools
Coordinate with College of Education to award TEACH grants
Assist in development of operational best practices procedure manual, and departmental training.
Other duties as assigned
Additional duties may include:
Responsible for NCAA compliance guidelines for Financial Aid Awards.
Responsible for supervising the financial aid counselor that process private and parent plus loans to ensure the awarding and adjustments of student financial aid are complete.
Assist in processing parent plus loans as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
One year experience in financial aid
Excellent communication and problem solving skills and interpersonal skills to interface with internal and external customers.
Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to travel to High schools and satellites campuses for MSU functions
Hourly Rate: $18.09 (Additional pay dependent upon qualifications)

- Normal working hours.
