Actalent Cad Drafter in Murphy, North Carolina

Job Title: CAD DrafterJob Description

As a CAD Drafter, you will have hands-on input on many aspects of our product development cycle. This position works closely with other engineering and manufacturing team members to design products for AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC converters and inverters using a variety of power topologies, thermal mitigations, and controls. Our power electronics hardware supports many robust military systems in real-world applications such as radar, RF, communications, mission computing, battery charging, onboard power, and autonomous systems. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, focused on quality and timely schedules, and willing to share their skills in a team environment to yield competitive and accurate results.

Responsibilities

  • Using CAD software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, to prepare technical drawings

  • Working with engineers and other professionals to produce drawings that meet their specifications

  • Writing related technical documents such as material lists and cost estimates

  • Ensuring that all drawings are accurate and meet industry standards

  • Maintaining a library of standard drawing templates

  • Updating existing drawings as new information becomes available

  • Managing and controlling documentation in a timely, efficient manner following internal ISO9001:2015 / AS9100:2016 procedures

  • Supporting all the above in an organized, efficient, and safe manner with clear communications in oral, written, and non-verbal forms

Essential Skills

  • Extensive working knowledge of CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks, to be able to prepare technical drawings efficiently

  • Trained and experienced with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) rules

  • Ability to analyze design sketches and specifications to create technical drawings

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure drawings are accurate according to specifications

  • Communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals

  • Time management skills to work with multiple projects and competing deadlines

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and industry standards

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • AS in CAD Design or Engineering, or 5 years of industry experience with CAD drafting and technical training

Work Environment

Prefer on-site or hybrid at Murphy, NC. The team consists of 10 engineers including mechanical, electrical, and quality engineers. The candidate will work under the Electrical Engineering Manager but potentially support 1-2 lead engineers on the team. The goal is to work in a support role with senior engineers to take some workload off of their plate while exposing the new engineer to many different areas they can invest time in. They offer a 4-day, 10-hour work schedule, Monday-Thursday, with every Friday off.
