JOB TYPE: Full-time (40 hours/week), exempt

SALARY: Minimum $40,976 annually; depends on experience

POSITION PURPOSE

To manage the Adult Services department in assigned branch including collections, programs, services, and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made upon request to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Manage assigned department staff (hiring, scheduling, training, delegating, coaching, etc.)
  • Plan, create and implement programs and outreach activities for adults
  • Promote and maintain collections; assist Library Manager with collection development
  • Manage and develop information services for the community (reference, technology, user education, readers advisory, etc.)
  • Primary building contact in absence of Library Manager

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program at an accredited university
  • 3+ years of professional library work experience
  • Indiana LC2 or higher OR ability to obtain one within six months of hire date
    • AND ability to maintain this certification throughout employment

Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience working with adults
