Microsoft Corporation Technical Program Manager, AI Inference Networking in Multiple Locations, United States

As a Technical Program Management Specialist for AI Inference Networking, you will lead the design, rollout, and quality bar initiatives for one of the largest AI inference fleets in the world. Your area of ownership will support a variety of the largest and most cutting edge AI services including a variety of Microsoft Copilots and ChatGPT. You will work with a team of AI/HPC networking experts, vendor partners, and key customers to define fit-for-purpose solutions in a fast evolving field.

This opportunity will enable you to grow your understanding of inferencing workloads and their evolution as more sophisticated AI models can be trained. You will also enhance your business acumen by understanding how AI inference powers key businesses within Microsoft and for some of our largest customers. Finally, you will expand your professional network to include AI practitioners, hardware vendors, and software developers. Responsibilities

  • You will partner with HPC/AI Product Engineering peers to design networking solutions across AI inference platforms. You’ll also identify risks and propose data-based mitigations.

  • You’ll define success criteria and create relationships for implementing features for complex cross-functional projects. You’ll coordinate and ensure alignment across organizations.

  • You will deliver on roadmap for multiple feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation plan, and manage governance programs.

  • You will drive continuous improvements by validating existing use cases and identifying new ones.

  • You’ll also lead teams to partner with other departments to collect performance metrics, drive customer support, and lead direct customer engagements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

  • Working knowledge of InfiniBand and/or RoCE v2 networking in AI and HPC environments.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
