BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced specialty departments in Charleston, SC!

Schedule: This is a daytime position.

Pay: $22.00 - $40.50 / hour

As a Specialty Veterinary Technician, you are a liaison between our doctors and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors. You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in-person conversations.

Additionally, you will be assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x-rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.

As a Specialty Veterinary Technician, you will...

• Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).

• Comfortable speaking with clients

• Proficient in placing IVC and pulling blood

• Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.).

• Induce, monitor , and recover anesthesia

• Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.

• Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway). Clean and maintain equipment following procedure.

• Discharge patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.

• Additional job duties as assigned.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
