Who we are

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) is seeking a Senior Security Specialist to support the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) in Mountain View, CA. The ideal candidate for this role will support all DIU personnel for security needs while supporting the DIU site security needs for the SCIF and site access and visits. This position is on-site in Mountain View, CA. No remote candidates will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executes administration and coordination of DIU security programs to ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and DIU security policies and procedures with minimal supervision.

  • Ensures compliance with security standards and provides guidance and support to staff members concerning all security administrative functions such as personnel security, information and system security, COMSEC, physical security and Industrial Security for the processing of DD Form 254s.

  • Preform duties of a Contractor Special Security Representative (CSSR) IAW DoDM 5105.21.

  • Provides administrative security support associated with the receipt, distribution, inventory, reproduction, and disposition of classified material.

  • Administers and maintains physical security procedures for visitor control, employee identification and safeguard of company facilities, equipment, materials, and employee property.

  • Develops and conducts security briefings and security education programs.

  • Assists with preparation, transmittal, and receipt of visitor certifications.

  • Process incoming Visit Authorization Requests (VARs) via Defense Information System for Security (DISS) or other transmissions.

  • Conduct preliminary inquiries into security infractions and violations.

  • Periodically inspects the facility to ensure physical security measures are followed as well as daily end of day (EOD) checks.

  • Contributes to development, review, and disposition of standard operating procedures and continuous improvement initiatives for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and other Top Secret (TS) level requirements.

  • Manage and execute the on- and off-boarding personnel from the program, including briefing and debriefing, creating and processing new hire badges and accesses, requesting appropriate badges, new hire packages and training material for incoming personnel, and system access.

  • Works with Front Office Staff for visitor registration and check in for high level meetings to include foreign visitors.

  • Advise the program management on any required modifications to existing or new secure facilities.

  • Work outside of regular duty hours may be required to support exercises and other events; must be flexible to support the customer.

  • Provide support to DIU Information Technology (IT) by creating Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS) and Secret Internet Protocol Router (SIPR) network account requests and ensuring that SCIF Users are issued JWICS and SIPR network accounts.

  • Provide support to DIU IT to delete JWICS and SIPR network accounts once SCIF Users depart DIU.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you need to have:

  • 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.

  • Top Secret Security Clearance required and current within the last five years.

  • In-depth knowledge of DISS.

  • Ability to constructively engage and resolve challenging situations.

  • Available to work before/after typical office hours as work may demand.

  • Independent self-starter, proactive, and professionally assertive.

  • Practical oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Superior verbal/written skills and presentation skills.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • US Citizen.

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Bonus points for:

  • DoD Security Professional Education Development Certification (SPeD).

  • Knowledge or experience with SCIF Accreditation preferred.

  • Physical security skillset: combo changing experience, experience with alarm panel programming, closed-circuit television (CCTV) knowledge.

  • Experience using the following systems: National Background Investigation Services (NBIS), CCTV software, access control software, intrusion detection systems, JWICS/SIPR workstations, and Scattered Castles.
