  • Location: Mountain View & Sunnyvale CA.

  • Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 4:00 AM start time but flexibility required for weekends

  • Pay Range: $74,000.00 - $78,000.00

We’re looking for a Pastry Sous Chef to join our growing program!

This role is responsible for the quality, service and experience of the Compass at Google pastry operation. As the Pastry Sous Chef, you will motivate, train, develop and direct team members to deliver a wide variety of delicious desserts, pastries, and sweet goods. While leading exceptional services, and accomplish daily goals and projects, you will also oversee the daily administrative and operational tasks, including financial management and analysis, sanitation and safety.

The Pastry Sous Chef will focus on culinary excellence for the Food program to support operational excellence. This position reports into the Pastry Chef and will leverage their operational skills to partner with key stakeholders to promote standards, expectations.

Using your expertise in baking techniques, recipe alignment, and pastry decoration, you will craft enticing and memorable treats for our clients to enjoy.

The great things you'll do

  • Promote a culture of Food and Workplace Safety

  • Follow all menu and production/prep expectations and guides, opening/closing checklist and responsibility guides

  • Prepare pastry items to complement operations

  • Set an expectation of hospitality that is friendly and engaging

  • Assist with weekly inventory

  • Train and develop team members

  • Assist Pastry Chef in ensuring that all products and ingredients that are used are purchased following sector and Food purchasing standards and sustainability commitments

  • Work with Executive Pastry Chef to ensure all employee guidelines are implemented and adhered to

    What we look for in a great candidate

  • Degree in Culinary Arts preferred or equivalent professional experience

  • Has a minimum of 2 years kitchen supervisory experience or applicable culinary experience in a similar volume, quality food service establishment

  • Value-driven, inspirational leadership invoked by a deep sense of purpose and responsibility

  • Strong passion for great food and hospitality

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • Working knowledge of Google Suite

  • Possesses general hospitality knowledge and interest in sustainability and sustainable food practices

  • Elevated Health & Safety standards

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team

  • Comfortable in a fast paced, changing environment
