Position Summary:
The Global Commodity Manager - Transportation & Trade Compliance will be responsible for developing and executing Fortna's transportation strategy, ensuring seamless international and domestic logistics operations while maintaining compliance with global trade regulations. This role will focus on trade compliance programs, 3PL/4PL transportation relationship management, and optimizing transportation modes, including ocean, air, LTL, FTL, and parcel logistics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategic sourcing, trade compliance, 3PL/4PL partnership development and transportation management systems (TMS) implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and manage a global trade compliance program, ensuring adherence to import/export regulations, customs compliance, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead and optimize relationships with 3PL/4PL providers, oversee contract negotiations, performance management, and cost efficiency initiatives.
• Oversee international and domestic transportation strategies, ensuring cost-effective and reliable freight movement across ocean, air, trucking (LTL/FTL), and parcel networks.
• Drive cost savings and process improvements in transportation and trade compliance while maintaining service levels and regulatory adherence.
• Implement and enhance Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to streamline logistics operations, capture, track, and report cost savings and improve overall project visibility.
• Monitor and adapt to changes in global trade laws, tariffs, and logistics trends, advising leadership on potential business impacts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to align transportation strategies with business objectives.
• Lead compliance audits and risk assessments, proactively addressing any trade compliance or transportation issues.
• Develop and track key performance metrics (KPIs) to ensure continuous improvement in transportation and compliance programs.
• Manage operational execution of 3PL/4PL providers, ensuring alignment with service expectations and business requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and directly relevant work experience may be considered. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
• 5-7 years of experience in procurement, with at least 2 years in strategic sourcing.
• Proven expertise in establishing and managing global trade compliance programs and import/export regulations.
• Strong knowledge of international and domestic transportation logistics, including ocean, air, LTL, FTL, and parcel shipments.
• Experience managing 3PL/4PL relationships, negotiating contracts, and overseeing supplier performance.
• Proficiency with TMS and other logistics software to enhance supply chain visibility and efficiency.
• Ability to analyze data and drive fact-based decision-making for cost savings and process improvements.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
The base salary range for this role is $100,700 to $151,100. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
