PACCAR Inc. Validation Engineer - Offsite Testing in Mount Vernon, Washington
The Vehicle Integration Validation team is looking for a highly motivated Validation Engineer - Offsite Testing to support summer and winter test trips to validate PACCAR products in extreme environments. The Vehicle Integration Validation team is responsible for validation testing of engine, transmission, vehicle, and exhaust aftertreatment hardware and software used on PACCAR vehicles. Job Functions / Responsibilities Serves as the lead validation engineer and subject matter expert for all Vehicle Integration Validation offsite test trips. Analyzes offsite test project requests, discusses project requirements with requestors and formulates preliminary project plans, budgets, and schedules. Plans offsite tests targeted to specific requirements, coordinates test set-up, instrumentation, data acquisition, and vehicle preparation to support these tests. Executes offsite testing in-vehicle, leading drivers, engineers, and support staff throughout the test trip. Plans and coordinates travel arrangements. Responsible for clear project level technical analysis and key performance metrics. Collaborates with program stakeholders to improve product quality, reliability, performance, and durability of powertrain offerings. Ensures established procedures and processes are followed within the organization to achieve department and project objectives. Contributes to improved test efficiency and test/data quality. Documents, evaluates, and reports test results and provides clear explanation of findings. Maintains positive working relationship with other groups at the PACCAR Technical Center and other PACCAR divisions. Offsite testing requires up to 20% travel. Qualifications 2+ Years in truck/automotive testing or development. Experience with internal combustion engines and related sub-systems. Familiar with measurement techniques for temperature, pressure, flow, and data analysis. Experience with vehicle software and after-sales service tools. Demonstrated experience with engineering tools such as Vector CANalyzer and ATI Vision. Ability to manage personal workload and willingness, flexibility, and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands. Test setup and requirements management experience required. Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences. Self-directed, excellent analysis, and technical judgment required. Class A CDL preferred. Education Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline required, MS preferred. Company Information PACCAR is a Fortune 500 company established in 1905.
