Position Overview

At Kiewit, one of our guiding principles on every project and in every office is, “Nobody Gets Hurt” and we’re currently looking for an Occupational Safety Registered Nurse who will create, support and audit our programs which reinforce our commitment to safety.

As an Occupational Safety Nurse, you will report to Project Safety Manager. Your primary responsibilities centers on the successful implementation and support of the Site Specific Safety Plan in the field. You will assist the Project Safety Manager with the application of the contract, client safety expectations, Kiewit Corporate Safety Manual, Corporate Crane Procedures Manual, District Standards, and all laws governing the work. You will also verify to ensure that work is being executed as planned, problem-solve with operations and craft, assist with corrective measures, and provide resources to correct and maintain solutions.

Incumbent provides basic, intermediate, and advanced first aid within the limits of licensure or certification and in accordance with approved protocols in both field and small remote clinical environments without direct management over site.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt and efficient basic, intermediate or advanced life support care of the patient prior to EMS arrival if required.

• Administers basic, intermediate and advanced patient care within the limits of licensure or certification and in accordance with approved protocols.

• In the absence of other qualified personnel, responsible for controlling the patient's surroundings is such a way as to minimize further danger and control the actions of bystanders.

• Provide efficient health care service utilizing telemedicine.

• Assist physicians in all aspects of patient care while on project.

• Measures and records vital signs, collects specimens, and escorts patients the treatment facilities as needed, documenting and recording all patient interactions and care provided

• Documents all aspects of patient condition and treatment on run reports. Obtains and records non-medical patient information as required by the company. Completes other patient documentation and forms as required by the company.

• Conducts record keeping, filing, data entry as required by the project other than patient or treatment related records.

• Work as liaison between clients, managers, and workers’ compensation partners to provide routine information related to medical treatments and procedures

• Assist client with development and maintenance of onsite Medical Emergency Response Plans. (MERP)

• Maintains competency in the use of all onsite telemedicine, laboratory, and diagnostic equipment.

• Submits both weekly and Monthly written professional formatted project related and operational reports, in addition to ad hoc reports as required by the project or requested by the project supervision.

• Maintains inventory of medications, supplies and equipment according to Company policies.

• Conducts regular equipment inventory and testing to ensure all equipment for which the paramedic is responsible is present, clean and in proper working order.

• Administer DOT & Non-DOT urine drug collections, occupational testing to include audiometry, PFT, and Respiratory Fit Testing.

• Occasional offsite client testing and education per client request

. • Participates and contributes in all onsite safety meetings.

• Participate and/or conduct “Man - Down” drills.

• May be asked to perform other duties to support project.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, required

• Must possess and maintain: Active RN license/certification verifiable as a RN - National Registered and in good standing Active Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), required

• Previous Occupational Safety experience, preferred

•Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider, or Emergency Medical Response and treatment, required

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as Remote Site Medical Provider in an industrial or construction setting a plus.
