Multiplastics Production Technician in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

Overview: As a Production Technician at Multiplastics, you will play a crucial role in leading and executing the manufacturing process within our core value streams, specifically thermoforming and CNC routing. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality output through machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, inspection, and packaging. You will work in a two-person team, where both members are dedicated to a specific value stream and take full ownership of the process, from start to finish. This position is ideal for experienced operators or technicians who are proactive, quality-focused, and committed to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Machine Setup and Operation

    • Perform setup and calibration of thermoforming and CNC router machines based on production specifications.
    • Operate machinery efficiently, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) to meet production targets and quality standards.
    • Adjust machine settings as needed to ensure optimal production outcomes.
  2. Quality Inspection and Packaging

    • Inspect parts during and after production to ensure adherence to quality standards, performing dimensional checks and verifying tolerances.
    • Identify defects or inconsistencies, ensuring corrective actions are taken before packaging and final delivery.
    • Package finished products per specifications, ensuring safe transport and accurate labeling.
  3. Basic Troubleshooting and Maintenance

    • Diagnose and resolve minor machine malfunctions to minimize downtime.
    • Conduct routine preventive maintenance, such as cleaning, lubricating, and checking equipment components to ensure longevity and reliability.
    • Collaborate with maintenance staff for repairs or complex troubleshooting as necessary.
  4. Process Improvement and Documentation

    • Identify areas for improvement in the production process and collaborate with team members to implement changes.
    • Document process parameters, quality checks, and maintenance activities accurately for traceability and process control.
  5. Safety and Compliance

    • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
    • Comply with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment, with experience in operating and maintaining thermoforming and/or CNC routing machinery preferred.
    • Proven experience in quality inspection, troubleshooting, and basic machine maintenance.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Familiarity with CNC programming, setup, and operations.
    • Proficient in using inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
    • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine functions and processes.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Self-motivated with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
    • Capability to work in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to machinery, noise, and occasional heavy lifting.
