Wage: $14.49 an hour non-exempt

Full time SCA Academic employees will receive 80 hours of sick and 40 hours of personal leave at the beginning of each academic year. Part time employees receive 40 hours of sick leave and 20 hours personal leave at the beginning of each academic year. SCA Academic Employees who begin their employment with the Saginaw Chippewa Academy after the beginning of the Academic Year will receive sick and personal leave in pro-rated amounts based on the employee's date of hire.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Tribal School Principal, work with teaching staff, administrators, students, parents, and other team members to assist and support in providing cultural and educational benefit for students. All education staff must adhere to mandated reporting laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to students by utilizing culturally responsive, trauma-informed, resiliency-informed strategies determined by the classroom teacher in their daily classroom activities.
  • Provide small group and individual instruction with materials as determined by the classroom teacher.
  • Provide assistance to students during unstructured times of day.
  • Assist students in the use of technology or equipment and instructional materials.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, well-organized classroom environment.
  • Prepare and create instructional materials as determined by the classroom teacher.
  • Participate in in-service training.
  • Assist in the safe transportation of students by riding the bus, making sure seat belts are secure, and assist children on and off the bus.
  • Attend school-wide extra-curricular, parent and community meetings, activities and events.
  • Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and all other privacy regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.

Pass a state or local exam (i.e. Basic Skills Test of Michigan for Teacher Certification or ETS ParaPro Assessment); OR
