Position Summary:

The College of the Arts and Media is seeking a full time Assistant Professor of Arts Administration to help build a new undergraduate Arts Administration program at CMU , an interdisciplinary program that will expand the skills of current students across the college and university. The successful candidate will be an individual that demonstrates enthusiasm for educating the future generation of Arts Administrators and prepares students for careers in the administration and management of arts programs, organizations, foundations, and arts-related industries and companies.

Responsibilities of the Arts Administration faculty include: 

• Teach undergraduate courses in Arts Administration • Curriculum and program development for the Arts Administration program • Recruit students to the Arts Administration program at CMU • Build relationships with arts organizations in Michigan and the Midwest region for internships and experiential learning opportunities • Service to the college and university

The position will start in August 2025. 

Required Qualifications:

• Terminal degree (MFA , DMA , Ph.D.) in one of the following areas: Art, Dance, Music, or Theatre with a proven track record of successful leadership in a local, regional, or national non-profit arts organization,OR Master's degree in Arts Administration, Arts Leadership, Arts Management or closely related discipline with demonstrated creative accomplishments in the areas of Art, Dance, Music, or Theatre. • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• College level teaching experience in Arts Administration or an academic discipline represented in the College of the Arts and Media. • Experience in curriculum and program development in higher education. • Established record of creative work/scholarship/research in Arts Administration or closely related discipline.
