SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

This adjunct faculty position teaches BUA 375 Business Logistics in the Business Administration 3+1 Program at RCBC. Adjunct faculty work under the direction of the Department Chairs, Department Program Coordinators, and the administration of the Division of Liberal Arts to facilitate class instruction, evaluate student performance, develop and manage syllabus and course materials, and comply with any Department, Division, or College requirements.

OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY

The most important overall responsibility of all RCBC employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, members of the college community and the public. Adjunct faculty work with our Department Chairs, Coordinators, and Administrative team to ensure successful course delivery for our students.

INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:

Assists college with student outcomes assessment efforts and/or Program assessments if need, by participating in the planning, data collection, and/or reporting as relates to course outcomes, program outcomes, general education outcomes, and developmental program outcomes.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course focuses on the logistics of physical distribution and supply chains. Topics include traffic routing, inventory analysis and control, warehousing, location of production and storage facilities, and transportation. The concepts in this course are drawn from the textbook and are intended to present to the students’ conceptual frameworks and managerial techniques that are appropriate to the management of logistics.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Relate the field of logistics to its role in business organizations, including the role of marketing.

  • Summarize the major areas of decision making in the logistics function.

  • Apply logistics management skills to practical situations simulated through business case studies.

  • Analyze business situations to determine the most efficient course of action.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adjunct Faculty are instructional personnel whose services are contracted on a semester/term by semester/term basis. The adjunct faculty workload is limited to two course sections per semester/term, unless additional course sections are required to meet the needs of the students and/or College. Adjunct Faculty are paid by the credit hour. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and Manage syllabus and course materials – selecting and compiling tests, assignments, online discussion exercise that permit measurement of performance relative to standardized learning objectives.

  • Facilitate class instruction – administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and course rubrics. All course grades will be posted on Blackboard Grade Center. Be prepared for class and meet with students on time and as scheduled or if teaching online to be responsive and “present” throughout the semester.

  • Comply with department, division, and college requirements – this includes using any required textbooks and online resources for a specific course, using Blackboard Grade Center, and completing required attendance reporting.

  • Respond promptly to grade determination – adjunct faculty should submit grades for any assignments, assessments, participation activities, etc. in a timely manner and within the required deadlines.

  • Input final grades in web advisor and turn in final grades and attendance records to the Division by the end of semester deadline.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements : Master’s degree or above in Business or a Master’s degree or above in a related area with at least 18 applicable, graduate credits to the course content.

Experience Requirements : Minimum of three years of practical work experience in the area of Supply Chain Management preferred along with a minimum of one year teaching experience preferable at the college level.

Technology Tools, Blackboard LMS, and Webex Videoconferencing

In order to enable Adjunct Faculty to be effective and to meet the requirements associated with relevant teaching conditions , RCBC has outlined 1) appropriate Technology Tools, 2) a minimum level of proficiency with the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) and remote delivery, and 3) Webex Videoconferencing resources.

1) Technology Tools

Adjunct Faculty should have access to a computer less than 6 years old and equipped with a webcam and microphone, as well as reliable high-speed internet service.

2) Blackboard LMS

Adjunct Faculty must participate in Blackboard training with a verified level of proficiency in the following two self-paced courses A) ‘Getting Started with Blackboard Learn’ and B) ‘Learn Teaching Essentials for Original’.

3) Webex Videoconferencing

Webex is RCBC’s accepted videoconferencing platform and allows for real-time instructor-student interactions and breakout sessions, for example. RCBC has created two interactive workshops, a maximum of one-and-a-half hours long, to address topics of interest to both beginner and advanced users. Recorded sessions will be continuously available for faculty viewing.
