A Scale House Attendant is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that performs services at the Landfill and Recycling center duties described more fully, below. A Scale House Attendant typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the workflow dictates.
Key Duties
This position at Mid Florida Materials is responsible for the scaling of all trucks that enter the landfill or transfer station while providing efficient, courteous customer service to internal and external customers. This position will maintain a variety of records, collect fees, calculate payments, check loads, and perform other related duties as required.
Approaches all encounters with employees, customers, and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
Directs customers and other traffic, and answers questions accurately.
Answers scale house incoming phone calls.
Accurately enter loads received and outgoing tickets into database; create load tickets and collect payment.
Correctly calculates payments for customers, run credit cards and maintains cash drawer.
Ensures that incoming loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material.
Provides general upkeep of the Scale House.
Keeps immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring attention.
Attends company sponsored training and meetings as directed.
Required to work on Saturdays, some holidays, and overtime.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer.
Possess ability to occasionally lift/move up to 15 pounds.
Knowledge & Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.
Dependable, flexible, and ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment.
Ability to be a team-player for overall company success.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Scale House Attendant encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
The work environment periodically exposes the employees to elevated levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
The noise level is moderate to loud. Employee occasionally works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
