Cardiac Ablation Solutions offer cardiac mapping and ablation solutions to treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms. This role position is an on-site work capacity with the preferred base location in Billerica, MA. We will consider candidates based in Mounds View, MN who are willing to travel into the Billerica, MA office, monthly.

A Day in the Life

The Engineering Manager will be involved in providing high level leadership and direction to the Advanced Manufacturing team ensuring the implementation of strategic and tactical activities supporting the CAS Operating Unit:

  • Lead, grow and motivate a highly talented, diverse, world-class performance engineering team. Direct, develop, and coach the Engineering team consisting of direct reports through effective leadership.

  • Attract and retain talent in line with business need.

  • Liaise closely with project leads and core team to ensure alignment on project resourcing needs and align on AME deliverables

  • Guides the conceptualisations of new methodologies, materials, processes and equipment used in production

  • Ensure that the engineering team are motivated and engaged through the process of regular coaching and performance acceleration, and that development plans meet individual and group development needs in alignment with the demands of the business

  • Drive functional excellence through the innovation of new technologies and processes to support next-generation designs and novel applications in the coronary and renal denervation space.

  • Drive functional excellence in process development including process characterization and transfer to commercial manufacturing.

  • Develop and promote Design, Reliability and manufacturability (DRM) within the Engineering group and champion the deployment of these practices.

  • Manage engineers, and possibly other supervisors, involved in an array of product development and technology exploration projects

  • Collaborate with core teams to establish objectives and evaluates progress of direct reports

  • Generate novel and unique solutions to both engineering and organizational challenges

  • Grow and nurture cross site and cross functional relationships in a large, multi-site, matrixed organization

Must Have: Minimum Requirements (To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technical field with 5+ years of work experience in Engineering OR Advanced degree in Engineering or technical field with 3+ years of direct engineering experience within medical device environment

  • Experience of direct management of engineers is a distinct advantage

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a Process & Technology Development role is desirable.

  • Experience with leading teams through process development - process characterization, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ and PQ phase gates.

  • Experienced providing a structured approach to solving complex problems

  • Excellent team building, communication, people management and leadership skills are desirable.

  • A strong communicator and fluent in English, both in writing and speaking.

  • A dynamic team player and leader and can work effectively and proactively on cross-functional teams

  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and stakeholder management  

  • Proven ability to deliver Projects on time, within budget, meeting business expectations.

  • Experienced with Microsoft project and office.

  • Demonstrated strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work, influence and lead in a matrix environment.

  • Strong Project management with demonstrated leadership of technical teams

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive plan.  Learn more about Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP) here . The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.  Base pay is based on numerous factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
