rrPosition Summary:

rThe Director of Academic Support Programs provides strategic leadership and oversight to the Academic Support Programs department. Academic Support Programs directly impacts student success and the retention goals that support the mission of the University of Idaho. The director provides leadership and vision, planning, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of academic support services.

This position must collaborate successfully and guide college deans, associate deans, faculty members, and vice provosts concerning academic support operations and university-wide retention initiatives. The Director of Academic Support Programs makes administrative decisions on a daily and on-going basis.

This individual works under the supervision of the Executive Director, Student Success Initiatives, within the division of Strategic Enrollment Management.

rrMinimum Qualifications:

  • Master\'s Degree

{=html} <!-- --> - Four years of experience working in a higher education setting - Three years of experience providing academic support to students in the form of academic advising, student services, student affairs, student support and/or student retention efforts - One year of experience leading others in an academic support unit

rrPreferred Qualifications:

rExperience:

  • Experience working with U.S. Department of Education TRIO Programs
  • Experience managing programs and budgets

Skills/Knowledge/Ability to:

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student records (FERPA, HIPPA, Clery Act, and other legislation regarding students\' rights and services)
  • Knowledge of Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS)
  • Ability to multi-task and work under tight timelines
  • Demonstrated professional credibility and personal integrity
  • Cultural competency and the ability to communicate in a culturally sensitive manner with both individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of theories, models and practices of college learning, study skills, collaborative learning, academic success strategies
  • Knowledge of University of Idaho academic rules and regulations
