rrPosition Summary:

rThe position performs a variety of accounting activities that range in level of complexity from clerical accounting duties such as managing receivables and payables, to more complex duties such as reconciling accounts and resolving accounting problems.

Duties may include:

  • Processing, updating and maintaining various routine accounting records and documents
  • Preparing accounting statements, billing documents and financial reports
  • Entering, retrieving and maintaining data on computerized accounting system
  • Responding to customer inquiries
  • Reconciling / analyzing accounting records for accuracy and completeness
  • Assisting with researching and solving accounting problems
  • Assisting with determining proper classification and coding of income and expenditures
  • Assisting in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and University policy and procedures
  • Assisting customers with University policies and procedures or make referrals as necessary
  • Collecting and recording payments; issuing receipts
  • Preparing and making daily bank deposits and managing change funds
  • Taking necessary action to resolve customer problems or discrepancies
  • Interacting with internal and external auditors and participating in auditing projects
  • May process, update and maintain various complex transactions
  • Other duties as assigned

rrMinimum Qualifications:

r

  • High School Diploma or equivalency

{=html} <!-- --> - Two years full-time experience providing financial or business process support within established policies and procedures, including interpreting and applying policies and procedures to practical situations. - Experience using computerized accounting systems or spreadsheet software to compile financial information, prepare summaries and reports. - A Bachelors Degree in accounting or finance may substitute for the above work experience

rrPreferred Qualifications:

r

  • Experience in a customer service / support role
  • Experience with governmental fund accounting
  • Experience working in a complex, decentralized accounting environment
  • Completion of at least one college-level accounting course

  • Ability to push and or pull items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to lift, carry or otherwise move items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop and lift items regularly
