Speech Therapist Responsibilities:

• Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients referred for speech therapy services, including assessments of speech, language, cognition, voice, and swallowing abilities.

• Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: Interpret assessment findings to establish accurate diagnoses and develop customized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs and goals.

• Therapeutic Interventions: Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address speech and language disorders, improve oral motor skills, enhance communication abilities, and facilitate safe swallowing.

• Dysphagia Management: Assess and manage swallowing disorders (dysphagia), including conducting bedside swallowing evaluations, recommending dietary modifications, and providing swallowing rehabilitation techniques.

• Patient Education: Educate patients, caregivers, and family members on speech therapy goals, exercises, and strategies for enhancing communication and swallowing function.

• Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, provide timely updates on progress, and ensure continuity of care.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with regulatory requirements and facility policies.
