Position Summary
Administer and perform the calibration processes of inspection, measuring and test equipment. Conduct finished product and/or component evaluations in accordance with the internal procedures and domestic and international Standards for product qualification, verification, and validation.
Principal Responsibilities
• Calibrate and repair measurement instrumentation in accordance with the established calibration procedures
• Generate and maintain all required calibration documentation, including but not limited to procedures, instrument calibration records, and calibration data sheets
• Assist with tracking and reporting monthly calibration metrics
• Coordinate the activities of vendors providing contract calibration services
• Recommend and requisition the calibration equipment necessary to maintain the capabilities of the calibration program
• Submit and maintain records for calibration vendors on the approved supplier list (ASL)
• Drop off and pick up gauges to and from local calibration vendors
• Generate purchase requisitions for calibration activities
• Track and maintain calibration cost within budget
• Assist engineering and set-up personnel in equipment and process troubleshooting
• Establish and/or improve the methods to make the calibration process more efficient
• Provide controlled lab testing of Teleflex products and competitor’s products, evaluatefunctionality and reliability, and support validations of new and existing products and processes.
• Inspect and measure parts.
• Test and document customer complaint samples.
• Perform reliability and functionality testing of products.
• Assist in development of uniform product evaluation protocols, procedures, test methods, test report forms and reports, and non-destructive test methods.
• Follow test procedures and provide documented results in the form of spreadsheets and lab reports.
• Perform problem investigation and participate in team problem solving.
• Assist with design and development of test fixtures and methods in accordance to ASTM, ISO, and other relevant guidelines
• Conforms to the 5S principles and all QSR/ISO housekeeping requirements of the department.
Education / Experience Requirements
Associates Degree (2 year) in a technology field preferred or approximately 3 years calibration experience and laboratory experience in business related field; preferably in quality assurance and laboratories.
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
• Experience with developing and executing calibration procedures internally.
• Understanding engineering drawings is essential.
• A team player who is self-motivated, able to take initiative, and able to effectively prioritize work for self and group.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Speaks/writes English (essential).
• A strong desire to help create a positive, winning, world class working environment.
• Familiarity with GLP, GMP, and FDA design controls.
• Prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports.
• Operate small tools, hand tools, measurement gauges, and fixtures.
• Operate automatic and manual machines that repair and test medical equipment parts and components, e.g. Force, Burst testers, etc.
• Experienced with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Experienced with vision measurement systems.
• Experience with various measuring devices such as Instron, flow meters, pressure gauges, scales, temperature probes, etc.
