Atlantic Health System Spiritual Care Administrative Summer Intern in Morristown, New Jersey
The Administrative Intern for the Spiritual Care department is responsible for partnering with the manager in support of the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program. This role works with the department’s manager, contract chaplains, staff chaplains, contingency workers and volunteers who provide spiritual support services to our patients, family members and team members. The responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
Organizational
Assist in answering phone & directing caller to services
Implement accreditation updates to educational portfolio, as well as Student Handbook
Support content creation and internal communication efforts for the department
Create alumni network database and news letters
Assist in preparing and communicating information and instruction for chaplains
Design and prepare patient & team members materials
Planning & Executing
Plan and coordinate regional CPE Day educational event
Coordinate special events and activities to support team members and as needed patient requests, i.e., baptisms/weddings/funerals
Collaborate with the team in creating a social media presence on Workplace (AHS’ Internal Communication Platform)
Research & Reporting
Project manage efforts around spiritual care and patient experience
Gather details and prepare reports for Medicare
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a full-time accredited undergraduate or graduate program at a public or private College/University, and be in good academic standing at their institution
Must be committed to completing the duration of the internship from June - August 2024
Work 37.5 hours per week and commit to a minimum of 375 hours for the duration of the internship
Must be committed to completing the duration of the internship from June 2025 - August 2025
Ability to skillfully present & organize information
Demonstrate strong cultural competency
Have an understanding of and sensitivity to working in a healthcare environment
Knowledge of various spiritual/religious/cultural backgrounds and belief systems
Ability to maintain a calm, comforting environment for patients, family, and staff
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
