Job Title: Apartment Complex Security Officer

Shift: Wednesday to Sunday (Full-time)

Hours: 11 PM - 7 AM

Site Location: Morris Plains, NJ

Pay: $16.20/Hour

Job Summary: The Apartment Complex Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the apartment complex and its residents, including monitoring the building, parking garage, and other shared facilities. This role involves access control, patrolling, incident response, and enforcing property management policies to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all residents and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

Access Control and Visitor Management

  • Monitor access to the building and parking garage to prevent unauthorized entry.

  • Register and issue visitor passes and verify identification as required.

  • Assist residents with security-related concerns and provide information to authorized visitors.

Patrols and Surveillance

  • Conduct regular patrols of the complex, including entrances, common areas, and parking garages.

  • Monitor surveillance systems and CCTV cameras to identify and respond to suspicious activities.

  • Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or unauthorized activities observed during patrols.

Resident and Guest Assistance

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for security concerns within the complex.

  • Provide escort services for residents to and from parking areas as needed.

  • Offer basic directions and assist residents or guests with security-related inquiries.

Incident Response and Documentation

  • Respond quickly to emergencies, including fire alarms, medical incidents, or security breaches.

  • Contact law enforcement, emergency responders, or property management when necessary.

  • Document all incidents and complete daily security reports for management review.

Policy and Safety Enforcement

  • Enforce complex rules, such as noise ordinances and parking regulations.

  • Ensure all common areas, such as lobbies, fitness centers, and laundry rooms, remain safe and secure.

  • Advise residents on safety practices, including garage and apartment lock-up routines.

Parking Garage Security

  • Monitor vehicle access to prevent unauthorized parking and address any parking violations.

  • Conduct regular checks of parked vehicles and assist residents with security concerns related to their vehicles.

  • Respond to suspicious activity within the parking garage and notify authorities if necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; additional training or experience in security or customer service is preferred.

  • Previous experience in security for residential properties or customer service is a plus.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to providing excellent service.

  • Ability to manage and de-escalate tense situations.

  • Familiarity with basic security equipment, such as CCTV, radios, and badge readers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and patrol multiple levels, including stairs.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based in a residential complex setting and requires interactions with residents, guests, and property management.

  • Some outdoor work may be required when patrolling the parking areas and building perimeter.
