Description Service Assistant Professor and Director of the Nemacolin Lab The Department of General Business of the John Chambers College of Business and Economics invites applications for a full-time Assistant Service Professor position. The initial appointment will be for two years, beginning in August 2024, with renewal based on performance. Candidates must have a at least a master's degree in business or a related field. This position involves teaching hospitality and tourism courses or a related field and management of the Nemacolin Hospitality Lab. Director Responsibilities-(60% of workload). The Nemacolin Hospitality Lab at West Virginia University is to conduct research, training, and development for students and the workforce in the hospitality and tourism industry. The specific duties include: Lead and mentor the Van Scoy Fellowship students and Nemacolin Fellowship students. Lead experiential projects that are hospitality and tourism-focused for the local, state, and regional communities, and industry. Develop a working relationship and collaborate with organizations such as the Department of Tourism, WVU Outdoor Economy Development Collaborative, WV CVB Association, WV Hospitality and Travel Association, and other associations to work on hospitality and tourism-focused projects. Coordinate and assist with grant writing and fundraising efforts to reach the goal of making the lab sustainable. Assist the Hardy Family Hospitality and Tourism program coordinator in preparing and coaching the students for career or education opportunities after graduation. Teaching Responsibilities-(40% of workload). This position requires teaching four courses, typically two courses per semester. Courses include but are not limited to: Restaurant Management, Hotel Operations Management, Hospitality Revenue Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Event Planning Practicum.

Qualifications Candidates must have successfully completed a master's degree in business or a closely related field by August 2024. A PhD is preferred but not required. Hospitality and/or Tourism industry experience a plus. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.
