West Virginia University Post-Master's Fellow - Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services in Morgantown, West Virginia

Description The Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services invites applications for a Post-Master's Fellow. The Fellowship positions are year to year appointments designed for recent graduates (within the last 2 years) of a Master's of Social Work or Counseling Program. The Fellowship offers different tracks while all primarily focus on providing short-term individual and group counseling, care/crisis management, outreach/consultation, services for undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities will include: Provide multiculturally-sensitive brief counseling (virtual and in person) for individuals with diverse presenting concerns. Provide clinical services. Conduct comprehensive intake evaluations, triage, and participate in CCCPS's crisis intervention services including crisis clinic, and supervised after-hours crisis coverage (initial responses and crisis stabilization provided by ProtoCall staff). Administer and document supervised risk assessments and risk reduction interventions. Provide consultation and outreach to clients and their families, WVU faculty/staff, and the university community. Complete required documentation in an electronic health record system and quality assurance activities including routine monitoring and management of student treatment compliance. Serve as a liaison to various campus stakeholders and ensure that students, faculty and staff are provided with timely information regarding CCCPS and student mental health concerns and resources. Understand and be responsive to the stresses facing BIPOC students. Co-facilitates didactic seminars on a variety of clinical or professional topics (2nd semester). Develop and help implement group/workshop interventions that are facilitated in locations that attract BIPOC students and encourage the development and enhancement of survival and navigational strategies from their communities and traditions. Facilitate activities and programs that help maintain focus on the importance of culturally competent and humble clinical services, outreach programming, and training opportunities. Participate in the CCCPS's diversity committee. Collaborate with other staff and trainees on issues pertaining to diversity and cultural competence, especially regarding working with BIPOC students. Co-Initiate and develop outreach and training programs that promote the development and enhancement of culturally responsive practices. Provide inclusive outreach programming to center with a special focus on serving BIPOC students. Act as a liaison to other campus offices providing services to BIPOC students. Provide emergent drop in and scheduled support, clinical and risk assessment to students presenting to CCCPS. Administer and document supervised risk assessments and risk reduction interventions (primary focus). Facilitation of psychiatric hospitalization or transfers to a higher level of care. Provide clinical care management to ensure continuity of care. Coordination of referrals and bridging of students to mental health services in the community or on campus. Keep records related to hospitalizations, disposition of care and high acuity cases and supporting the leadership team in analyzing these data and planning accordingly.
