Now hiring a Driver also referred to as* Van Driver or *Patient Transport to join our team *at Abraxas Academy.*

As a Driver, you will be responsible for the transportation of our clients or their families to and from the program. Your face-to-face encounter with clients will often be the first impression they have of our program.

Abraxas Academy is located minutes off of Exit 298 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Berks County and provides detention and treatment services for court committed youth.

Salary From: $ 21.00 per hour 

What we require:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • No DWI/DUI
  • Must be able to pass physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required.

As a Driver for our residential treatment facility, you will represent Abraxas Youth & Family Services drive a corporate vehicle or a company approved vehicle to transport clients, or their families to and from the program/facility. Drivers will assist as needed on the campus completing deliveries when not transporting our residents. Drivers take our clients to court appointments, doctor appointments, business appointments and family meetings as well as pick up clients from other facilities or courthouses in a safe and secure manner.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide direct supervision, leadership, and serve as a role model to clients while interacting in a therapeutic and meaningful manner.

  • Observe client behavior and intervene appropriately, as dictated by policy and individual client treatment plan.

  • Operate company vehicle according to state and federal laws in order to transport clients, staff members, and administrative support to and from the program/facility for business related appointments according to an assigned schedule.

  • Assist in the maintenance of assigned vehicles by inspecting each vehicle prior to use, routine cleanliness vehicle checks, and performing minor maintenance as required and document service work performed.

  • Provide emergency medical treatment (i.e. first aid) in the event of a medical problem during transport.

  • Document trip and any significant incidents that occurred during transport in vehicle log. Communicate significant client incidents or related issues to supervisors immediately.
