GEOTEMPS, INC. is currently looking for a LIFEGUARD for our valued client in Morenci, Arizona. This individual must have a commitment to teamwork, safety and following policy and protocol. This opportunity is best suited for an individual who is comfortable as a lifeguard and performing public safety work in preventing injuries in the municipal pool facility.

Summary:

Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. Duties include preventing accidents, and effectively enforcing pool rules and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Teach various ages basic swimming skills, water comfort and water safety
• Perform swim tests on individuals and recommend the appropriate level
• Fill out report cards in a timely manner and create class rosters
• Function as part of a Team in an emergency or assist in handling incidents/accidents in Aquatics areas.
• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be able to pass a swim test which includes:
  • Step in deep water
  • Tread water for 1 minute
  • Turn 360 and swim a 25-meter swim (across the deep end and back)
  • Exit the pool using the pool edge only

Preferred:

• High School diploma or GED
• Teaching experience and working with children
• American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aide, CPR, and AED certification

Required:

• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Skill in applications of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department.
• Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
• Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
• Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
• Flexible schedule
• Must pass a drug/alcohol screening.
• Background and reference check

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stand, stoop, reach, bend, climb, lift, pull, and swim while in swimwear.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction.
• Must have the stamina to work long hours and overtime.
• Must be able to hold your breath for a decent amount of time.
