Job Title: Asphalt Laborer

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Asphalt Laborer to join our team on a closed construction site. The successful candidate will be responsible for various tasks including moving materials, prepping areas by digging, site clean-up, and assisting in all aspects of asphalt construction. This role requires a strong work ethic and the ability to work long hours, especially during peak season. Expect a work week from Monday through Saturday, totaling 60-70 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of asphalt surfaces.

  • Operate and maintain equipment such as asphalt pavers, rollers, and other machinery.

  • Transport and handle materials including asphalt, gravel, and other construction materials.

  • Perform site preparation tasks such as digging, grading, and compacting.

  • Ensure the worksite is clean and safe by removing debris and hazardous materials.

  • Learn and assist in all aspects of asphalt construction, including laying, smoothing, and finishing asphalt.

  • Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in Asphalt Construction: Knowledge of asphalt paving, rolling, and finishing techniques.

  • General Construction Skills: Familiarity with general labor tasks, including the use of power and hand tools.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy lifting and work long hours in various weather conditions.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision in tasks such as grading and compacting.

  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with a team to complete projects efficiently.

Top Skills:

  • Asphalt paving and finishing

  • Operation of construction machinery (asphalt pavers, rollers)

  • Site preparation and clean-up

  • Heavy lifting and material handling

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Tool List: Must possess or be willing to obtain steel-toed boots, working pouches, tape measure, framing hammer, and a 12 lb. sledgehammer.

  • PPE: Must have appropriate personal protective equipment, including rubber boots for working with asphalt.

  • Entry Level

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
