Robert Half Staff Accountant in Montville, Connecticut

Description

We are offering an exciting long-term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the non-profit industry, based in Montville, Connecticut. The Staff Accountant will be instrumental in maintaining our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a robust understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

• Efficiently process and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports

• Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets

• Ensure adherence to standard requirements through regular audits

• Create new processes to improve financial efficiency

• Maintain accurate customer credit records

• Accurately and efficiently process customer credit applications

• Report analysis and findings to appropriate individuals

• Ensure the accurate and timely completion of bank reconciliations

• Use Sage Accounting Software to post journal entries

• Manage month-end journal entries and month-end close

• Utilize Microsoft Excel to maintain and analyze financial data.

Requirements • Proven experience in the non-profit sector is preferred

• Proficient in Sage Accounting Software

• Ability to execute bank reconciliations

• Experience with posting journal entries

• Proficient in conducting month-end journal entries

• Expertise in executing month-end close procedures

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• High ethical standards and professionalism, with a commitment to confidentiality

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines

• Knowledge of financial regulations and legislation.
