Position Summary

The Authorization Specialist at Kids First is a full-time employee who reports to the Director of ABA Operations. They work collaboratively with our clients' insurance companies to ensure therapy services can begin and continue. The Authorization Specialist will work closely with the clinical team within the organization to ensure they have everything they need to complete the authorization stage in our clients' intake process.

Position Responsibilities

Kids First is looking for an Authorization Specialist to join our growing team. As an Authorization Specialist, you will:

• Communicate directly and frequently with funding sources regarding authorizations 

• Submit required authorization information to funding sources

• Follow up with insurance to ensure timely approval of authorizations

• Enter authorizations into Central Reach (our data collection system)

• Communicate approvals/denials with clinical and operations teams

• Ensure there are no Coordination of Benefit issues prior to authorization requests

• Communicate insurance requirements/requests to clinical and operations team

• Track and follow up on reassessments to ensure timely authorization submissions

• Handle all active clients with terminated insurance policies and communicate necessary information to client families

Position Qualifications

You have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent

• A background in customer service in the healthcare field

• Strong attention to detail and are highly organized and efficient

• The ability to communicate clearly, and effectively (written and verbal)

• The ability to effectively handle multiple responsibilities at once in a deadline-driven environment.

• A passion for helping children receive therapy services promptly - for this role, a sense of urgency and mission is key.

Position/Work Conditions

• Ideal working hours occur between 9am-5pm EST

• Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting, for prolonged periods
