Montrose Memorial Hospital EMT Tech Assitant - Medical Imaging - Full TIme in Montrose, Colorado

Position Overview:

The Medical Imaging Tech Assist performs a wide variety of routine duties including technical, clerical and patient related functions within their scope of practice. They are responsible for assisting members of the imaging team and providing a broad range of health care services such as: IV starts, patient exam review, preparation for the exam, patient education and transportation, and assistance with exams and procedures. The Medical Imaging Tech Assist may be assigned to work in a variety of imaging modalities per operational needs. They are trained to assist in a wide variety of imaging procedures, computers, and software. They will interface daily with physicians, nursing staff, and technologists to ensure quality and timely services in medical imaging.

Essential Functions :

Promotes the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health.

Start patients IV prior to contrast enhanced imaging

Assist with room and patient preparation for imaging exams

Explain studies to patient in clear manner

Safely transport patient to and from carts, beds, wheelchairs

Transport patients to and from other departments based on their imaging needs

Position patients ensuring comfort and modesty

Retrieve previous imaging from other facilities

Verify orders for accuracy and request corrections as needed

Shall be cross trained in Meditech and PACS for order entry and order confirmation.

Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Education and Work Experience

Education: High School graduate or equivalent

Training & Experience: BLS required on hire. Current EMT B with IV skills (strong IV skills preferred), EMT I, Paramedic or LPN license required

Job Knowledge: Medical Terminology

Ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and non-verbally, in a clear, concise manner.

Administrative and philosophical compatibility with Montrose Regional Health.

Interpersonal skills and sound judgment necessary to communicate with a wide variety of persons including patients.

The ability to make appropriate decisions based on fact and knowledge is required. The ability to perform detailed work required. The ability to work harmoniously with employees required. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and show good judgment. The ability to make decisions under pressure and deadlines required.
