Oracle Principal Software Engineer in Montpelier, Vermont

Job Description

This position is for an experienced and productive Java cloud application architect and developer. You must have proven experience building and delivering enterprise web-based multi-component multi-tiered multi-service client-server applications. Expertise and experience developing RESTful microservices components is required. The candidate should be well versed in developing and consuming RESTful APIs and using cloud technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with Java, Javascript, and JEE Microprofile app servers like Helidon and TomEE, are also required. This individual should be highly organized, self-motivated, and have the ability to work independently, as well as work with project managers and peers to understand requirements, document designs, and build and unit test software components.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall technical guidance and direction in the development of enterprise applications running on a cloud platform.

  • Ensure the ongoing upgrade and upkeep of cloud software designs by applying industry standards and best practices.

  • Learn and incorporate the best available Oracle and Oracle approved technologies into application architecture.

  • Design, develop, and maintain software modules for service APIs.

  • Unit testing, integration testing.

  • Verify, test, and help find resolutions to issues reported by customers and internally.

  • Write clear, concise and thorough design documents

  • Contribute to the resolution of defects and enhancement requests

  • Perform other work related responsibilities as assigned by management

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a software developer delivering large-scale, enterprise-wide web applications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience delivering scalable and highly-available applications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience and hands-on knowledge of JEE, XML

  • Minimum 5 years of experience and hands-on knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON

  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing apps for cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, Azure)

  • Minimum 5 years combined experience with Helidon, TomEE, WebLogic, or WebSphere

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with Docker and Kubernetes

  • Experience working with distributed caching technologies like Coherence or Hibernate

  • Experience working with database technologies – OracleDB, MySQL, ORM, TopLink/EclipseLink

  • Experience working on Linux OSs

  • Experience following agile software development methodologies and life cycles

  • Highly-motivated, high energy individual with a strong commitment to quality

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal direction

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Helidon and Kafka

  • Experience working with Oracle Cloud

  • Insurance Industry related experience is a plus

Minimum Experience:

  • 5+ Years experience with required skill set described above

Minimum Education:

  • 4-Year degree in Computer Science or similarly disciplined field and experience

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $94,200 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
