THE POSITION Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in the field of transportation? The Department of Transportation is currently on the lookout for a skilled Transportation Technician to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out entry-level assignments within the District Construction Unit. Your main tasks will involve assisting Transportation Construction Inspectors and Supervisors in conducting construction inspection activities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will support the review of completed work units and materials utilized to ensure adherence to Department policies and accuracy. You will also assist in coordinating and controlling the district's field construction project records and documentation by utilizing ECMS, PennDOT Project Collaboration Center (PPCC), and mobile construction applications on PennDOT issued iPad devices. Additionally, you will be involved in conducting technical reviews of material costs for highway and bridge construction projects. This will involve verifying the completeness and accuracy of documentation and work orders submitted by Project Management staff to support payments. Furthermore, you will participate in inspecting construction operations on roads and bridges to ensure that the work aligns with the plans, specifications, and contract provisions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Vendor-controlled flex schedule. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an Ad-hoc basis after successful completion of training program. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville, Pennsylvania. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements: This particular position also requires possession of a valid Non-commercial Class C Driver's License.
