Summary The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Pharmacy is seeking exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, and motivated Pharmacy Technicians. This announcement is being advertised to fill pharmacy technician vacancies within the Clinical Center's Pharmacy Informatics Section. Responsibilities As a Pharmacy Technician (Informatics), the incumbent provides support to pharmacists within the department to maintain safe and timely patient care operations. Collaborating with IT teams to install and configure pharmacy information systems including pharmacy management software, medication dispensing systems, and automated medication storage and retrieval systems. Conducting testing and quality assurance procedures to verify system functionality and adherence to regulatory requirements. Monitoring and maintaining the performance, availability, and security of pharmacy information technologies. Coordinating routine system upgrades, patches, and backups, ensuring minimal disruptions to pharmacy operations. Generating reports and analyze data to identify opportunities for process improvement. Assisting pharmacy leadership in designing and implementing medication utilization reviews and drug utilization evaluations (e.g. a standing member of the Drug Shortage Committee). Collaborating with pharmacy staff to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency through the effective utilization of pharmacy information technologies. Identifying and recommending process improvements, automation opportunities, and system enhancements to optimize medication management and minimize medication errors. Ensuring systems comply with the latest industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to pharmacy informatics. Assisting in conducting internal audits and prepare documentation for external regulatory inspections related to pharmacy information systems. Providing troubleshooting instructions for automated dispensing equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the GS-07 Pharmacy Technician (Informatics) position: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Collaborate with IT teams to install and configure pharmacy information systems; Monitor the performance and security of pharmacy technologies to ensure integrity of systems; Coordinate activities with multidisciplinary teams to implement medication safety initiatives and streamline workflows; Aid in training staff on proper use of automated dispensing technologies. OR Completed one full year of graduate education, or an internship, in Pharmacy. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent (1) year of full-time study, or 18 semester hours. OR A combination of graduate level education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Additional Information This position is designated as a Tier 1 "emergency essential" position and the selected candidate will be considered an "emergency essential" employee and will be required to be available, ready, willing, and able to report for duty under all circumstances (e.g., inclement weather, government closings and holidays, lapses in appropriations, non-emergency and emergency situations) for operation 24 hours a day and 365 days per year coverage. At the supervisor's discretion, this position may offer work place flexibilities: Telework (work from home on a regular basis or ad hoc basis but reports to the office at least once a week/two days a pay period).
