Summary Do you have experience providing technical advice and performing project management functions on water treatment systems and other utilities systems? If so, please considering the Office of Research Facilities, Division of Technical resources as an Engineering Technician (Chemical). You will provide technical support for field engineering and troubleshooting of utility systems, perform contract administration, and oversee the operation and maintenance of water treatment systems. Responsibilities As an Engineering Technician (Chemical), you will: Provide technical advice, guidance, and expertise in the development of specifications and designs for water treatment projects Design and develop technical drawings and specifications for projects characterized by a variety of conditions Perform technical review of contractor-prepared designs and specifications of systems Identify and determine data collection and analysis for projects, and for daily operations, that require the coordination of different methods Provide chemical engineering expertise for the review of plans, standards, requirements, and implementation of new systems to support water treatment programs, plants, and systems Prepare project plans including overall project scheduling, major engineering requirements, and specifics related to project budgetary estimates Coordinates the planning, scheduling, and timing of assigned construction operations Lead and conduct research and analysis of the utility plant's and outlying buildings water treatment programs to locate, identify, evaluate, and recommend solutions to solve potential or unusual problems, including inspecting and analyzing aging facilities and systems or changes in facilities or equipment use. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify for an Engineering Technician, GS-0802 position at the GS-12 level, you must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: preparing designs and specifications for water treatment projects on utility systems; providing recommendations to engineers and other professional staff to develop alternative or improved designs for water treatment systems; analyzing data from water treatment systems to create technical graphs and plots; maintaining surveillance over utilities construction projects to ensure construction milestones are met; reviewing proposed construction designs and specifications to ensure suitability for water treatment systems; evaluating utilities equipment and procedures to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of water treatment systems.
