Job Title: Animal Care TechnicianJob Description

Join our team as an Animal Care Technician, where you will contribute to enhancing the palatability of pet food. This role involves working directly with cats and dogs, ensuring their well-being, and maintaining a clean and organized facility. You will not be required to interact with customers, focusing solely on animal care.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain kennels and facility areas.

  • Ensure the facility is organized, sanitized, and free of odors.

  • Feed cats and dogs on schedule.

  • Ensure animals have access to clean water.

  • Use provided pet toys to play and socialize with animals.

  • Bathe and groom animals.

  • Prepare pet food for scheduled feedings.

  • Weigh leftover food and dispose of it accordingly.

  • Maintain documentation on dogs and cats and update this information as needed.

  • Foster a supportive and collaborative environment.

  • Provide exceptional animal care.

Essential Skills

  • Animal research

  • Animal handling

  • Animal science

  • Experience with large groups of animals

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

  • H.S. Diploma required

  • 6 months or more of animal care experience in a veterinary environment, kennel, or shelter

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in jobs involving standing and cleaning duties, such as production work or restaurant work.

  • Experience in environments like farms, groomers, pet stores, shelters, humane societies, vet clinics, or vet hospitals.

  • Knowledge in animal husbandry, animal breeding, vivarium management, and veterinary care.

Work Environment

This role supports the Palatability Assessment Resource Center (PARC) for administering taste trials with animals. You will interact daily with dogs and cats in a team-oriented environment, working alongside 19+ care technicians and 4-5 vet tech staff. The facility is advanced and maintains high expectations for continuous work. The role involves exposure to varying temperatures year-round and requires significant physical activity, often exceeding 10,000 steps per day. The schedule rotates to include weekends and holidays, with a set two-week rotation. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $39520.00 - $42120.00/yr.
