Front Load Driver

Job Summary:

The front-load driver will drive on a predetermined route, collect garbage, and transport it to a waste management facility or garbage dump.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform vehicle inspection and maintenance, identifying potential hazardous materials per Safety rules and regulations, and occasionally interacting with customers along the route.
  • Safely operate a collection truck, and provide prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services for customer
  • Responsible for ensuring his or her vehicle complies with the Company's safety standards before operating the vehicle, ensures that all Company, state, and federal regulations are adhered to at all times while operating the vehicle, and completes vehicle condition reports ("VCR's") daily to ensure that any vehicle defects are repaired in a timely manner
  • Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle following Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.
  • Safely operate his or her heavy truck along his or her designated route and to the disposal site
  • Operate manual and/or automatic controls following Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
  • *Continuously monitor the vehicle's condition to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body (where appropriate) on each disposal trip. * Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Good customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous, and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers
  • Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Good follow-through ability; adheres to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise.
  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company's safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

  • One year of prior experience driving commercial trucks is preferred.
  • Class B or higher Commercial Driver's license with air brake endorsement Physical Requirements:
  • Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
  • Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 20 pounds frequently.
  • Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • The normal setting for this job is outdoors and/or driving a video/GPS-monitored vehicle.
  • Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements most of the workday.
