The Minnesota Veterans Homes provide an innovative and high-quality oral health program to all residents under our care. In 2018, the Minneapolis Veterans Home built a state-of-the-art fixed dental clinic with the support of various grant funds. Since that time, we have continued to expand our care and have received recognition for the quality of services and advocacy for our geriatric resident population.

This Dental Hygienist position is a new position as we develop and increase our service delivery model. Working with a contracted team of dentists – this position is primarily responsible for providing dental hygiene and preventative services to residents in multiple Minnesota Veterans Homes. This position not only focuses on hygiene services to our residents, but it also includes the opportunity to provide training and support to our direct care staff in proper brushing and hygiene efforts.

The Minnesota Veterans home locations are : Preston, Luverne, Fergus Falls, Montevideo, Bemidji, Silver Bay, Hastings, and Minneapolis. This position will be working primarily out of one of the eight Minnesota Veterans Home as agreed upon by the agency and incumbent.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registration with the Minnesota Board of Dentistry as a Dental Hygienist, in good standing.

  • Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain by time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working as a Dental Hygienist.

  • Experience providing dental services to a geriatric or special needs population.

  • Experience providing 1:1 education regarding brushing techniques.

Additional Requirements

This position requires successful completion of the following:

  • A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.

  • A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.

  • Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance and contact with the applicant's former employer(s).

  • Finalists may be required to pass drivers license check.
