Amazon DPO Materials Manager, Device Postponement Operations (DPO) in Monroe, Ohio
Description
The DPO Materials Manager (DPO MM) is the leader responsible to drive and deliver materials that delight Amazon’s customers on time, in the right configuration, and at the right cost. The DPO MM does this by working with internal and external partners to plan, purchase, and report on materials and materials readiness. The DPO MM reports status and costs to executives and other leaders on a weekly and monthly cadence.
Key job responsibilities
The DPO MM works with our supplier partner, and local and remote colleagues to enable build-readiness, specifically related to material readiness and costed BOM management. The DPO MM is responsible for all activities related to material management, from development builds to production, from overseeing procurement to overseeing warehouse operations. This includes managing partners, working with internal commodity management teams, reporting on material readiness, and driving material acquisition to support program goals. The DPO MM works with global commodity management to validate pricing and ensure contract pricing agreements are met. The Supply Chain Manager has a operations orientation, and is a key member of the local and remote operations teams that drive production readiness.
The Supply Chain Manager is the Single-Threaded Owner (STO) to:
Drive solutions to reduce and eliminate any short- or long-term gaps in supply plans and materials;
Authorize and drive supplier partners to procure material to support program goals;
Analyze demand changes and drive material supply (Clear to Build, CTB) to align to requirements;
Report product cost status, risks, and opportunities in executive reviews;
Manage and report on global material shipments to the Ohio Postponement Facility
Manage warehouse space, space allocation, and estimates for future programs;
Assist in creating and maintaining production schedules using capacity, materials, and demand as inputs;
Partner with engineering, operations, and commodity managers to define required materials and validate bill of material releases to suppliers via Amazon’s PLM system.

A day in the life
The DPO MM will be actively engaged on the factory floor, in the warehouse, and in the office daily to identify and resolve material-readiness issues and forecasts, monitor global incoming shipments, and manage the warehouse. The DPO MM may be in the warehouse inspecting and marking prototype material pallets, participating in a cycle count, or reviewing the reorder points on the CTB report. The DPO MM will partner with automation engineering teams to manage fast turn material purchases and change control mechanisms. Finally, the DPO MM will work with cross-functional teams to ensure BOM readiness in Amazon’s PLM and liaise with the supplier partner to ensure accurate BOMs are created.

Device Postponement Operations (DPO) is Amazon Lab126’s team responsible for in-region postponement, customization, and pack-out of Amazon’s innovative devices. We finalize the assembly of devices using automated and manual assembly and pack-out lines so that Amazon can customize products to meet just-in-time demand. We enable Amazon to deliver very quickly to our customers the right configuration of a product at low cost and high quality.

Basic Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex programs with previous experience supporting the introduction of new products. The ideal candidate will also:
have demonstrated experience in materials management, warehousing, cost management, and supplier management;
have excellent organizational skills, with a track record of managing multiple programs at once;
have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
be comfortable with, and desire to, present to executives on a recurring basis;
have experience partnering with geographically dispersed and/or ad-hoc teams;
be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed in an open collaborative peer environment;
enjoy working in a fast-paced, changing, dynamic environment;
have earned a Bachelor's Degree with experience in a related field.
have experience in developing and writing white papers.
Preferred Qualifications
7+ years’ experience in operations, managing throughout the product life cycle from Concept to EOL;
Published articles, authored or co-authored journal or similar documentation
