Role Summary:

This position is part of a small team responsible for developing and maintaining highly configurable products for the automatic door industry. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll work independently and collaborate constructively with the team to express design concepts. Your responsibilities include research, design, prototyping, testing, documentation, and industrialization support for both new and existing products. The goal is to create elegant designs that minimize factory impact while maximizing value for end users.

Responsibilities and Challenges:

  • Research and Voice of Customer Feedback:

  • Gather insights on projects from internal stakeholders.

  • Design and Prototyping:

  • Create designs for new products or updates.

  • Build physical prototypes in the engineering lab.

  • Testing and Documentation:

  • Execute test plans to validate new designs.

  • Prepare comprehensive documentation for sourcing, operations, manufacturing, and field use.

  • Industrialization Support:

  • Assist in transitioning new designs to production.

    Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

  • Experience and Knowledge:

  • 2+ years of product design experience.

  • Proficiency in 3D and 2D design software (Solidworks and Draft sight preferred).

  • Hands-on experience in an engineering lab or shop setting.

  • Basic hand tool skills required, CNC or machining familiarity desired.

  • Familiarity with large multi-level BOMs and assemblies.

  • Project task management software experience, preferably with JIRA

  • PDM (Product Data Management) experience, preferably with Team Center.

  • Working knowledge of aluminum, steel, glass, and basic electronics.

  • Tolerance stack-up analysis experience.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Advanced Excel skills, including VBA and Macros.
