TERRA-GEN Maintenance Technician III - Electrical in Mojave, California

Description

This is a trainee position responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Electrical Infrastructure associated with all power generation facilities operated by Terra-Gen Operating Company and all associated equipment in accordance with procedures, guidelines, and operating directives in effect. Demonstrate the ability to assist with maintenance and operational duties, perform basic mechanical, electrical, and/or instrumentation tasks. Concurrently, perform and adhere to all training requirements and schedules. Training program requirements are expected to be completed within the designated time frame.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed)

  • Adhere to, support, and comply with all company safety and environmental policies and practices. Ensure all employees, contractors and visitors conduct themselves safely and within company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Complete required annual safety training.
  • Under the supervision of the General Manager or Lead Technician, perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks on electrical substation equipment.
  • Under the supervision of the General Manager or Lead Technician, assist in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues within the substation and t-line.
  • Learn to conduct tests and measurement to ensure proper functioning of equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, relays, and control systems.
  • Assist in repairing or replacing faulty components or equipment as directed by senior technicians or supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, test results, and equipment conditions.
  • Under the supervision of the General Manager or Lead Technician , assist in the installation of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment, under the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Collaborate with other team members and communicate effectively to ensure maintenance operations.
  • Participate in training both classroom and hands on training.
  • Learn the components of a Substation and their function and learn the maintenance process and procedures such as typical maintenance work includes, but is not limited to; disassembly, repair, and assembly of small and medium-size equipment; lubricating equipment; assisting with and/or performing instrumentation and electrical troubleshooting and maintenance; changing oil in equipment and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Learn to read meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions.
  • Possess knowledge or learn the specific function of tools and have the ability to use them safely.
  • Learn chemical and oil characteristics in accordance with procedures at specified intervals.
  • Learn to review various logs, faults, temperatures levels, and other information.
  • Maintain the plant area, shop equipment, tools, grounds and company vehicle in a clean and safe condition at all times.
  • Take immediate corrective action as directed in response to emergency situations to minimize safety hazards and to reduce damage or downtime to the plant and its equipment.
  • Upon certification utilize electrical test equipment in the performance of operation and maintenance work.
  • Regularly complete paperwork, including timecards, work orders and any other required documentation including hard copies and electronic.
  • Train to improve personal skills related to the job and/or required advancement.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Compiles records and reports and maintains a daily log.
  • Trains to improve personal skills related to the job and/or required advancement.
  • Assist co-workers with responsibilities when needed, including backup support.
  • Ability and willing to work holidays, weekends and overtime as needed.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS -

  • Possess a valid driver's license for the state in which you are applying.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Regularly work in unprotected heights (six feet and below).
  • Lifting/lowering 25 to 40 lbs., lifting carrying up to 50 and up to 100 lbs. with assistance; pushing and pulling 45 to 60 lbs.; frequent reaching, squatting, crouching, standing, balance, manual dexterity, stooping, kneeling, walking and sitting.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to the risk of electrical shock.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The employee is exposed to adverse, outside weather conditions such as high winds, wet/snow and/or humid conditions; extreme heat/cold; precarious places; and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and on occasion can be very loud.

The posted compensation is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This salary range may also be modified in the future, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
