Job Title: Mechanical Design III - HVAC

Job Description

Our client is currently undertaking multiple new programs that will span over a decade, focusing on the development of over five different ships and submarines. We are eager to hire talented Mechanical Designers at all levels to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing company where you can accelerate your career. We are seeking candidates with experience in 2D and 3D design using tools such as ShipConstructor and AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will have a background in shipbuilding, shipyard, or similar industries. This is a two-year remote contract position where you will play a crucial role in designing and developing the next generation of shipyard construction and ships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 2D and 3D drawings and models.

  • Check drawings created by CAD Drafters and Designer I-III.

  • Collaborate with Production Management and cross-functional design teams, including internal and external partners, customer representatives, and equipment manufacturers.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associates Degree or higher in CAD preferred.

  • Minimum of 4 years of 3D modeling experience.

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in shipyard design, production, or construction.

  • Experience with ShipConstructor and AutoCAD.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Understanding of scheduling and ability to adhere to strict deadlines.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

  • Experience interacting with multiple design teams and production members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in the construction of high-speed aluminum vessels preferred.

  • Experience with modular construction methods preferred.

  • Experience in the design and construction of US Navy vessels preferred.

  • Thorough understanding of vessel design in areas such as Equipment, Electrical, Fitout, Foundations, Hull, HVAC, Material, Pipe, Product Hierarchy, and Structure.

  • Ability to interpret system schematics, structural key plans, compartment arrangements, and electrical diagrams to create 3D CAD models.

Work Environment

This is a fully remote position with negotiable work hours and time zone flexibility. Benefits and PTO are negotiable. You will be working in a collaborative environment where you will interface with models from other disciplines using the XREF command and model in 3D space without interferences.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00
