Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician - Electrical, will be in charge of installing power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment, such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers, following electrical code and blueprints, using hand tools and voltage tester.

  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment, following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, using hand tools and test equipment.

  • Detects malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.

  • Tests malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment, and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, such as machine repairer, maintenance and tool maker, maintenance, to diagnose malfunction.

  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices, using hand tools.

  • Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards, using electronic test equipment and hand tools.

  • Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.

  • May push buttons and press keys on robot controller, teach pendant, and programmable controller to program automated machinery, such as robots, to operate automated machinery, to test for malfunctions, and to verify repairs.

  • May plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.

  • May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.

  • May be required to hold electrician's license.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years Industrial experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Working knowledge of all common hand and power tools.

  • Must be able to read and accurately interpret blueprints and other engineering documents.

  • Requires knowledge of general plumbing troubleshooting and repair.

  • Requires knowledge of general electrical troubleshooting and repair.

  • Requires knowledge of general painting and drywall repair.

  • Requires knowledge of general carpentry.

  • Read and use blueprints and drawings as required to install office furniture, building equipment, HVAC equipment, etc.

  • Able to operate an oxy-acetylene cutting rig, with welding experience a plus.

  • Knowledge of mechanics of, and operation of mobile powered equipment to include but not limited to Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, and Boom type man-lifts.

  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Requires the ability to demonstrate initiative and assertiveness, the ability to plan and organize work in an efficient manner, and the ability to work well under stress and time pressures.

  • Requires intermediate use of a computer.

  • Familiar with the National Electric Code.

  • Willing and able to work any shift, including holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed. Ability to work rotating shifts.

  • Will be placed on a rotating on-call list.

  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.

  • Willing and able to work at heights utilizing ladders and elevated work platforms.

  • Experience with CMMS systems

At SLB, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at/near the top of the range. The anticipated salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000.
