Department Overview The Marketing and Communications team tells the story of Children's Minnesota - so that our community understands what we can do for them. With a diverse team of experts in PR, digital, social, brand management and creative, we develop communications that raise awareness of our highly specialized care, grow affinity for our kid-focused approach to medicine, and keep our audiences (families, physician partners, community groups) engaged in the journey toward better health for all children. Position Summary The Public Relations Specialist will support public relations and external communications activities for multiple initiatives and campaigns. This includes developing plans and strategies that protect and enhance the external reputation of Children's Minnesota. This position, reporting to the Manager of Public Relations and External Communications, will execute communications efforts for proactive and reactive media relations, owned content, events and more, all aimed at driving recognition and protecting and enhancing the reputation of Children's Minnesota. Location (e.g. remote or on-site): Remote with an ability to regularly travel to different sites and locations (primarily Minneapolis and St. Paul) as needed. DHS Background Study Required? Yes License/Certification/Registration required? No Education: *Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or English, or other relevant degree. Experience: *One to two years of communications or public relations experience at an agency, media outlet, corporation or non- profit organization preferred. New graduates encouraged to apply. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: *Excellent writing, editorial and communication skills *Working knowledge and experience in social media *Experience working with Word Press, Meltwater, news wire service and other digital platforms preferred *Ability to build trusting relationships inside function and with other departments *Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment *Ability to find and create compelling stories *A quick study with a desire to become a subject matter expert on many topics *Self-starter with a great work ethic, ability to work independently and as part of a team *Ability to travel to different sites and locations as needed The posted pay range represents rates for a grouping of multiple jobs within a salary grade. We carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Children's Minnesota. All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
