NBC Universal Systems Engineer, NBC & Telemundo Miami in Miramar, Florida

You will be part of a dedicated team supporting our 365 days news operations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work alone and as part of a team. The role includes working on projects and wide range of broadcast technologies. Candidates must have a strong desire to learn and develop their skills. On-site shift work is required.  

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Must be customer focused, results driven and able to work in 24/7/365 environment.  

  • Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting broadcast technology.  

  • Maintain, support & troubleshoot Over-the-Air broadcast equipment.  

  • Able to quickly learn quickly, research and find information.    

  • Documentation (AutoCAD), SOP’s and upkeep of maintenance logs and databases. 

  • Works well under pressure to rectify technical issues in a timely manner. 

  • Works well within a team but also works efficiently independently. 

  • Undertake Projects as assigned and ensure on-time delivery. 

  • Working with Division and Vendors on projects and troubleshooting.  

  • Well-organized, self-motivated and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Must be solution-oriented, proactive, and willing to go the extra mile to give our content teams what they need.  

  • Must be able to act with urgency, immediacy, and make appropriate decisions. 

  • Provide daily support and leadership in all areas of our EHS program including reporting, documenting and investigations.

  • Work with company Purchase Order system and vendors to issues PO’s, inventory management and asset management.

  • Must be able to work during extreme Weather events in support of all Florida Stations

  • Must be able to support of all Florida Stations

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT or related field 

  • 5+ years of experience in Broadcasting

  • Candidates with a relevant degree or experience considered.

  • Experience in a similar role within a TV Station, ISP, media company, systems integrator, or other relevant industry desirable. 

  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills with ability to interface with all levels of management & user community. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Experience working in News desirable.   

  • Experience working on outside events desirable.   

  • Associate degree in Film Production, Broadcasting, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields, technical certifications with CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, etc., or equivalent work experience. 

  • Must be willing to work evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays with little or/no notice depending on production schedules.

  • Strong customer service skills and professionalism.

  • Proficient with IT routers, switches, firewalls, and port management applications

  • Proficient in A/V file transcoding, data archiving processes and video compression technologies & standards.

  • Hands on experience with support of non-linear edit systems such as Premier, FCP, Edius.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of media over managed IP networks and protocols.

  • Knowledge and experience with hardware virtualization

  • Knowledge of media workflow tools and production systems such as Vantage, Dalet, Ross Overdrive or similar.

  • Knowledge of newsgathering and communications systems

  • Strong ability to read and generate system documentation (Visio, ACAD).

  • Knowledge of distribution systems including RF, Satellite, bonded cellular and streaming media over managed IP networks and protocols

  • Knowledge or proficient on the following: 

  • Service Now ticketing system

  • SCCM Patches Deployment

  • Newsroom System Application Dalet

  • AWS Elemental servers

  • VMs infrastructure

  • General IP knowledge (VLANS, Subnets, DNS, etc.)

  • Must be able to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. 

Desired Characteristics: 

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) desirable  

Additional Requirements:

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

  • Must be willing to work in Miramar Florida Studios

  • Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays with little or short notice depending on production schedules

  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

  • Must be 18 years or older
