Job Title: Event Support Assistant

Locations: Various, Saint Paul based

Pay Rate:DOQ

Hours: The schedule for this position is flexible based on students' academic schedules. Weekly hours fluctuate between five to 20 hours during the academic semester.

JOB SUMMARY

As an Event Support Assistant, you will have opportunities to provide audio/visual support for on-campus events ranging from meetings and conferences to small theatrical and musical performances. On-the-job training is provided on a continuing basis. In addition to setting up and operating the audio/visual equipment, the job involves regular face-to-face interaction with customers including students, faculty, staff and university guests. This role will require independence, effective communication, and a passion to assist people.

Student employees will be scheduled to work between Monday through Friday, 8AM - 5PM, and may occasionally have evening and weekend hours. Shifts will be at least 2 hours in duration and total hours range between 5-15 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting users with presentation technology built into meeting spaces

  • Delivering and setting up portable equipment

  • Maintaining resource and venue organizational and operation standards

  • Ability to conduct oneself and present oneself in a professional manner

  • Independence and interdependence

  • Tolerance of ambiguity

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to demonstrate independence and occasionally work without supervision

  • Previous experience with audio/visual equipment preferred

  • Previous customer service experience helpful

  • Minimum two years to degree completion (exceptions made for previous experience)

  • Some evening and weekend availability required

    ELIGIBILITY

    To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
