As the Global Talent Acquisition (TA) Leader for Operations and Supply Chain at Medtronic, you will architect and implement the comprehensive talent acquisition strategy for our Global Operations and Supply Chain (GOSC) division. This division is pivotal, responsible for approximately 6,000 direct labor and 1,600 salaried hires annually, representing the largest hiring volume within the company. In this role, you will drive the evolution of our TA practices, cultivating an innovative culture that is underpinned by a growth mindset, industry-leading TA capabilities, and a steadfast commitment to excellence. Your efforts will be crucial in developing and executing top-tier TA solutions that meet the needs of both our candidates and internal stakeholders across the Medtronic HR spectrum.

This position will work from our Operational Headquarters office in Fridley, MN and work per our hybrid guidelines.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Talent Acquisition (GTA), this role will:

  • Implement Agile-TA Operating Model: Deploy an Agile-TA operating model tailored to the GOSC customer base, focusing on agility, innovation, automation, and skilled TA business partnership.

  • Strategic Customer Engagement: Establish and maintain a value-driven strategic customer engagement plan for key talent segments within the GOSC business, utilizing data, insights, and strategic programs to drive continuous improvement and leverage external talent intelligence.

  • Leadership Across Global Teams: Direct a diverse team of Senior Managers, Managers, and individual contributor Recruiters across global locations, continuously enhancing team capabilities in executing TA solutions and processes.

  • Cross-Functional Partnerships: Forge strategic connections with various teams including Early Careers, Executive TA, and the in-house contingent labor program to align with the GOSC hiring model.

  • Innovate with AI Technology: Lead global implementation of conversational AI technologies, 'chat to apply' features (text recruiting), and coordinate hiring events with external partners like Paradox AI.

  • Global TA Strategy Development: Develop both aggregated and tailored global talent acquisition strategies for GOSC, focusing on enhancing hiring team capabilities with an emphasis on quality and inclusive hiring practices.

  • Enhance TA Processes and Technology: Drive continuous improvement of the end-to-end talent acquisition processes and technology for GOSC, ensuring efficacy and consistency in collaboration with global peers.

  • Employer Brand and Inclusion Initiatives: Collaborate with the global employer brand and Global Inclusion Diversity and Equity (GIDE) teams to balance consistency and localization of GOSC hiring needs during the deployment of creative talent attraction strategies.

  • Metrics and Performance Analysis: Develop, report, and influence robust and relevant metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and capability of talent acquisition, identifying trends, successes, and areas for performance enhancement.

  • Strategic Leadership and Talent Management: Provide strategic leadership and management for direct reports, including forecasting resource needs, recruiting, hiring, performance management, training, and budgeting.

  • Business and HR Integration: Partner with senior business and HR leaders to deepen understanding of business dynamics and balance TA delivery with talent quality and candidate and hiring manager experience.

  • Expertise in Manufacturing Operations and Supply Chain: Provide insights into market and talent landscape specific to manufacturing operations and supply chain, aiding in the development of company growth plans and forecasts.

  • Candidate Experience Excellence: Lead the execution of best-in-class practices for the end-to-end candidate experience, from sourcing to onboarding.

  • Cultivate High-Performing Recruitment Team: Commit to engaging leadership routines (e.g., regular 1:1s, ongoing development conversations) and support team development through professional growth, mentorship, and coaching opportunities.

  • Uphold Medtronic Mindset and Fiscal Responsibility: Maintain and model the Medtronic mindset and leadership ethos, fostering a culture where all team members feel valued and heard, while ensuring adherence to the AOP budget and commitments.

  • Creative and Traditional Sourcing: Lead the team in deploying both traditional and innovative, creative recruiting strategies.

  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Perform related duties as necessary, adapting to evolving business needs and strategic directions.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Educational and Professional Requirements: Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience in various talent disciplines, including talent acquisition, essential for driving a comprehensive talent strategy.

  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 7 years in people leadership, including experience managing other people managers, with a proven ability to foster strong team alignment, engagement, and outstanding performance outcomes.

  • Industry-Specific Hiring Experience: Strong background in recruiting within the manufacturing operations and supply chain sectors, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the industry-specific talent needs.

  • Global Recruitment Expertise: Deep and broad expertise in deploying effective recruitment strategies across multiple channels and sources, ideally with experience in diverse geographies such as the US, EMEA, APAC, and Greater China.

  • Strategic Global Leadership: Demonstrated experience in strategic customer leadership at a global level, capable of aligning talent acquisition strategies with global business objectives.

  • Financial and Operational Acumen: Strong financial acumen with a demonstrated focus on achieving operational excellence, crucial for managing complex budgets and optimizing resource allocation.

  • Process Improvement Methodologies: Experience with 6 Sigma, Lean, or Agile methodologies within an enterprise context, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Vendor Management Expertise: Experience partnering with Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO), Managed Service Provider (MSP), and Vendor Management System (VMS) organizations.

  • TA Team Development: Demonstrated experience in scaling and expanding talent acquisition teams to meet evolving business needs effectively.

  • Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives: Experience in creating and implementing diversity-focused strategies to significantly bolster equality initiatives within the organization.

  • Analytical Skills: High level of analytical, assessment, and judgment skills, crucial for making informed decisions and strategic planning.

  • Industry Experience: Recent experience in a fast-paced, multinational technology company, showcasing adaptability to dynamic business environments.

  • Soft Skills: Strong time management, teamwork, follow-through, and organizational skills.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to interact effectively with stakeholders across various levels of the organization.

  • Leadership and Mentorship: A track record of inspiring, mentoring, and coaching others, with the confidence and capability to build and lead a high-performing team.

  • Technological Proficiency: Prior experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), preferably Workday, and familiarity with other TA technologies such as LinkedIn, Talent Neuron, Paradox AI, etc.

  • Recruitment Marketing Knowledge: Knowledge of strategies to drive candidate/applicant volume, including social media, employment branding, advertising, and a thorough understanding of recruitment process workflows and relevant employment laws and regulations.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
