Optiv Sr. Consultant - DLP & Data Security | Remote, USA in Minneapolis, Minnesota

This position will be fully remote and can be hired anywhere in the continental U.S.

This role sits within the Data Governance, Privacy, and Protection practice, and will focus on Data Security. There is a particular emphasis on the implementation and management of Data Loss Prevention and Data Discovery programs leveraging the capabilities of Microsoft Purview.

Technical, hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview – specifically those capabilities previously associated with the M365 Security & Compliance portal – is highly preferred; Technical, hands-on experience with one or more Data Loss Prevention platforms is required.

This role will also be expected to lead assessment and roadmap engagements for Data Protection and Data Loss Prevention programs. A successful candidate should be able to:

  • Describe, evaluate, and plan for the components (policies, processes, people, and technical controls) of a robust Enterprise Data Protection program

  • Describe the architectures and capabilities of various data security and data governance tools, such as:

  • DLP tools, including endpoint, web, and email DLP products

  • Data Discovery tools

  • Data Access Governance tools

  • Data Encryption tools

  • ZTNA and SASE products

  • Describe common network protocols and Data Loss Prevention methods for each

  • Describe typical data stores within an enterprise environment and methods for securing the data within each type of repository

How you'll make an impact:

  • Deliver solo-based work and provide leadership for complex projects

  • Act as a technical escalation point to assist other consultants

  • Support the delivery of data security, data loss prevention, data discovery, and regulatory compliance engagements

  • Engage and advise customers regarding the Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Purview platforms

  • Design, deploy, and configure various aspects of the Microsoft Purview data security and data governance toolset, particularly Sensitivity Labels, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and data discovery

  • Provide advice to customers on data security and information governance

  • Effectively provide knowledge transfer, technical documentation, and post-implementation support

  • Provide mentorship for junior consultants

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations

  • Obtain and maintain top tier vendor certifications

  • Consistently complete administrative project tasks like time and expense entry, status reporting, and project completion reporting

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Ability to travel up to 20-25%

  • Approximately 5-7 years of related work experience with 4-7 years of technical cybersecurity experience

  • Technical, hands-on experience with one or more Data Loss Prevention platforms (required)

  • Technical, hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention, Sensitivity Labels, and data discovery (highly preferred)

  • Solid experience with one or more of the following Security Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or Security Control Frameworks (or an equivalent): SABSA, TOGAF, O-ESA, NIST CSF, NIST RMF, CIS CSC, ISO 27001

  • Scripting and coding/development experience, particularly with PowerShell (highly preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of multiple security concepts and methods such as vulnerability assessments, data classification, privacy assessments, incident response, security policy creation, enterprise security strategies, architectures, and governance

  • Working knowledge of operating systems, virtual machine environments, and relational database management systems

  • Expert knowledge of using Microsoft Office

  • Ability to build relationships with and influence other functional areas

  • Well-developed negotiation skills

  • Ability to build consensus

  • Solid business acumen and basic project management expertise

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel

  • Willingness to travel to meet client needs

  • Professional certifications such as the CISSP, CISM, and/or CISA are preferred

Salary Range Description

$116,500.00 - $156,000.00 Annual

The Hiring Range provided for this role is informed by (but not limited to) various factors including responsibilities of the position, work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, geography, as well as other market influences when extending an offer. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for these factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a variable incentive-based bonus plan. Optiv offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, of which salary is a component.
