Bio-Techne Senior Manager, Technical Accounting in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Position Summary

The Technical Accounting Senior Manager will directly report to the Assistant Controller. This position will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This involves overseeing technical accounting issues, providing guidance to other key stakeholders, and ensuring the integrity of financial reporting.

This position will have several ownership areas of controls including goodwill, intangibles, revenue, fixed assets, and will be involved in the consolidation process. These tasks will require a high level of interaction with executive corporate management, senior management at our subsidiaries, and with our external auditors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial instruments.

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP, including creating procedures to validate the accuracy, reliability, and effectiveness of data utilized within the organization.

  • Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and standards; analyze their impact on the organization and recommend appropriate actions.

  • Train staff on technical accounting matters and best practices.

  • Liaise with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations regarding technical accounting matters.

  • Work closely with various departments, including finance and accounting, operations, and legal, to ensure comprehensive understanding and implementation of accounting policies.

  • Support M&A accounting including diligence, opening balance sheet valuation, and the annual goodwill impairment assessment.

  • Assist with month end close and consolidation procedures focused on more complex areas and those that require multi-location coordination

  • Regularly perform and/or review internal controls in adherence with SOX.

  • Ensure new acquisitions are integrated into the corporate structure and prepared for monthly reporting requirements.

  • Collaborate with our EMEA headquarters to ensure compliance with US GAAP reporting and support statutory audits by providing guidance and assistance throughout the process to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Professional Experience / Qualifications

The successful candidate is personable, highly ethical, and thrives in a collaborative environment. He/she has excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience leading diverse teams, and a desire to grow professionally.

Requires include:

  • 6-8years including recent public accounting experience with focus on SEC registrants

  • Strong time management skills with ability to consistently meet deadlines and quickly switch priorities as special projects arise.

  • Strong technical accounting abilities.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with US GAAP and PCAOB requirements including standard implementation as well as designing and documenting internal controls

  • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationships across functional areas.

  • Proven project management experience, including process improvement, with successful results.

  • Outstanding leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

Education

  • Bachelors degree is required

  • CPA is required
